Promoting Health Awareness Among Ghana’s Youth
Healthy Minds, Healthy Futures: Nawonu’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Initiatives
Informed decisions begin with knowledge. Nawonu Foundation empowers youth by providing them with the resources and awareness they need to make informed choices about their health and well-being.
The Health Awareness Gap:
In rural communities, taboos and myths about sexual and reproductive health leave many young people vulnerable to teenage pregnancies and STIs. Statistics show that nearly 14% of teenage girls in Ghana become mothers before their 18th birthday.
Our Programs in Action:
- Awareness Campaigns:
Through radio programs, social media, and community outreach, we share crucial information on health rights and prevention strategies. - Workshops in Schools & Communities:
Our interactive workshops create safe spaces for youth to ask questions and dispel myths about sexual health. - Partnerships with Healthcare Providers:
Collaborating with clinics and hospitals, we ensure that young people have access to services like counselling, contraceptives, and STI testing.
Real-Life Impact:
Thanks to Nawonu’s health awareness workshops, 17-year-old Kofi from the Volta North Region learned about STI prevention and became a peer educator in his community.
Conclusion:
Knowledge is power. By supporting health education, you’re investing in the well-being of Ghana’s youth.
